2050 Climate Group – Young Leaders Development Programme applications now open!
Last year, Nicholas Major – one of our partners – took part in the Young Leaders Development Programme (YLDP), run by the 2050 Climate Group. Nicholas got so much out of the programme, he now volunteers with 2050.
Described as a “world first” by the First Minister, The YLDP gathers 130 young changemakers (age 18 to 35) from across Scotland to address climate change by implementing personal, professional and political change. The programme offers high quality training on climate change and leadership, with the chance to join a network of hundreds of climate leaders following successful completion of the programme.
Applications for the next round of training are currently open and the 2050 Climate Group are keen to get more people from the construction and housing sectors involved in the programme. So are we!
On the back of Architects Declare, Extinction Rebellion Scotland and a host of other climate initiatives, the construction industry needs to up its game and stop locking unsustainability into the built environment for the next generations.
That the YLDP puts power in the hands of young people is also key.
The YLDP is a fantastic opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the issue of climate change and how to take action towards tackling the climate emergency. And, of course, the YLDP network can be valuable throughout any participant’s career.
Know someone age 18 to 35 in construction or housing who would benefit from the programme? Applications are open until 8th August at 5pm.
